The spread of COVID-19 is making Pixan more important than ever in these women's lives. The closing of public transportation and strict curfews that limit travel by foot are making it both logistically and financially challenging to get daily food and necessities. For most women, Pixan is their primary or only source of income, which is especially critical during this time.
Our Pixan pillowcases in the Atitlán were designed by Paola and weaved on a backstrap loom by talented weavers from Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan. They were inspired by the nature that surrounds them every day to design and weave these beautiful pillows.
